If you've found your way here, you may already know that my name is Bill and I enjoy writing songs about God. If you did not know that, well now you do. I hope to be faithful with the songs I write. I'm not sure I know how to do that, but I think this website is a start. It contains the lyrics, chord charts, mp3's, even the stories behind the songs. And it is all free to you. So look around. Enjoy. And thanks for stopping by.

Majesty and Meekness

download chord chart // download mp3

(verse)
When majesty and meekness unite
There is power and beauty divine
Christ, You are our King and Your footstool is the earth
Yet, You hold our feet and wash away the dirt

(chorus)
Your throne is forever
Mercy is Your scepter
My heart is stirred by a noble theme
As I sing for You, my Lord and my King

(bridge)
We worship You, King Jesus
In majesty and meekness

-------------------------------------------------------

"My heart is stirred by a noble theme
as I recite my verses for the king;
my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

You are the most excellent of men
and your lips have been anointed with grace,
since God has blessed you forever.

Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one;
clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.

In your majesty ride forth victoriously
in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness;
let your right hand display awesome deeds.

Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies;
let the nations fall beneath your feet.

Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom."
- Psalm 45:1-6

A few years ago, I stumbled across a series of 10 sermons tapes by A.W. Tozer from 1963 that discussed these six verses. The sound quality leaves much to be desired; they can be near impossible to understand at times and thus require a good measure of concentration while listening. But they are well, well worth the effort. Many of the tracks on the Majesty and Meekness EP were shaped by those tapes, none more than this song.
